Aldactone is an aldosterone receptor antagonist that causes the elimination of water and sodium from the body through the kidneys, thereby reducing potassium loss. It belongs to a class of products called “Potassium-sparing diuretics”. Generally, Aldactone is intended to reduce edema caused by heart, liver or kidney problems, hypertension and for patients with hyperaldosteronism.

Bodybuilders use it to obtain a drier body on competition day. They take it a few days before the competition. For certain athletes such as boxers or wrestlers, this product is ideal for weight loss.

WHEN IS IT USED?

Most athletes take it a week before the competition. At high doses, intake begins 3 to 5 days before the date of the competition.

DOSAGE OF ALDACTONE

The general dose ranges from 25 to 100 mg per day. For taking, however, you can administer it in two doses spaced at least 8 hours apart.

Some athletes, however, choose to take the 100 mg dose in one go in the morning.

Considered a mild diuretic, Aldactone is often combined with Lasix. The dose of the two products combined is then 50 mg/50 mg.
