FSH and LH play an important role in the development of follicles (eggs) produced by the ovaries in women. Humenotropin is used to help your body produce multiple eggs during ovulation, for in vitro fertilization. It is a fertility drug that is injected subcutaneously or intramuscularly. As a combination drug, humenotropins bind to the follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) receptor, causing ovulation in the absence of sufficient endogenous luteinizing hormone (LH). They also bind to the LH receptor, stimulating the release of the appropriate hormone. The drug contains both FSH and LH, so it induces the growth and development of ovarian follicles and the production of gonadal steroids in women who do not have ovarian failure. FSH is the major driver of follicular recruitment and growth during early folliculogenesis, while LH is important for ovarian steroidogenesis and is involved in the physiological events leading to the development of a competent preovulatory follicle.
