During his crossing of the Burmese forests, the founder ofHimalaya, M. Manal, saw a villager calming an agitated elephant by giving it the root of the plant Rauwolfia serpentina.
Fascinated by the plant's effect on elephants, Mr. Manal later returned to India to seek scientific evidence of Rauwolfia serpentina's calming power. While still quite young, his mother entrusted him with her bracelets to sell so he could continue his research. Himalaya was born.
Having fully understood the benefits of this plant, Mr. Manal then purchased a manually operated tablet compression machine and began his work. After a few years of hard work, his work paid off. This remarkable plant would later become Serpina, the first medicine antihypertensive in the world since 1934.
In 1955, Himalaya introduced for the first time to the world market the Liv52. Liv-52 is a herbal product that has its roots in the Ayurvedic medicine, an ancient form of Hindu science and medicine that focuses on the use of natural remedies.
Liv-52 is widely used in Europe and Asia to support metabolic health and hepatic. Liv-52 remains currently the most commonly used form for the natural liver protection, in the steroid using community.
