Glifor should be taken with food. Take it regularly at the same time each day to get the most benefit from it. Your doctor will decide what dose is best for you and this may change from time to time depending on how it works depending on your blood sugar.

Glifor is a combination of two antidiabetic medicines: glipizide and metformin. Glipizide is a sulfonylurea that works by increasing the amount of insulin released from the pancreas to lower blood sugar. Metformin is a biguanide that works by lowering glucose production in the liver, delaying glucose absorption from the intestines, and increasing the body's sensitivity to insulin.

There is no fixed dosage regimen for the management of hyperglycemia in patients with type 2 diabetes with Glifor or Glifor XR or any other pharmacological agent. Dosage of Glifor or Glifor XR should be individualized based on both efficacy and tolerability, without exceeding the maximum recommended daily doses. The maximum recommended daily dose of Glifor is 2550 mg for adults and 2000 mg for children (10-16 years); the maximum recommended daily dose of Glifor XR for adults is 2000 mg.
